Headhunting Isn’t a Guaranteed Win

Being headhunted is certainly flattering, but it’s not a guaranteed job offer. While it might increase your chances, your performance in the interview will ultimately determine your success.

The Art of Mirroring

If the hiring manager is calm, relaxed, easy going then you should be too but be careful, don’t be too relaxed as they are looking for someone to do the work so they can get back to being relaxed!!

A key strategy for successful interviewing is mirroring. This means matching the interviewer’s energy, body language, and communication style. If they’re energetic and enthusiastic, match their enthusiasm. If they’re more reserved, adopt a more subdued approach.

Avoid Common Pitfalls

  • The Passive Candidate: Don’t sit back and expect the interviewer to do all the work. Be proactive and engage in the conversation.
  • The Overly Aggressive Candidate: While confidence is important, overconfidence can come across as arrogance.
  • The Monologue: Let the interviewer speak, and actively listen to their questions.

Remember, You’re the Performer

Whether you’ve been headhunted or applied directly, the interview is your stage. Your performance will determine whether you land the job. Don’t underestimate the power of a well-executed interview.
